Hurling Birthday :(

In all of Ben's five years on this planet, he has never thrown up. Not once! He decided to break his streak on the day of his fifth birthday party. This year Grandma, Grandma Shirley, Aunt Heidi and Ben's best cousin Christy came to town to celebrate. About an hour and a half before the start of Ben's party, he got sick....all over the place. Having never done that before, the sight of milk coming out instead of going in was beyond traumatic. Oh, and he was kind of upset too! I called his party guests and alerted everyone that he threw up but wasn't running a fever or feeling ill. Four out of five kiddos still came, even though they knew things could get messy. Once his friends arrived, all went well. We played dinosaur games, decorated dinosaurs, hatched dinosaur eggs and had a great time....until snack time. As Ben and his mates were gathered around the table, enjoying some dino nuggets, Ben hurled all over the table. His friends were total troopers though as they sat there and continued devouring their snacks. We took Ben upstairs, cleaned him up, changed his clothes and he made the decision to go back for more. Next on the agenda was present opening, where Ben scored some super sweet gifts. Dino cake was next. As we sang "Happy Birthday" I wasn't sure if it was the reflection of the green dino on the cake or if Ben was getting sick. It wasn't a reflection. No sooner did the candles go out, the snacks came up! Poor Ben left the table, crying, and declared he wanted his birthday to be over. We took him upstairs, put on outfit number three, and tucked him into our bed. His friends hung out for a bit longer while my poor little guy was super sad. Fortunately, he has a great group of pals and they were all very understanding. Ben was down for the count for a few days but bounced back, only remembering the fun parts of his birthday - whew!
