November 28, 2009

Our little family has been enjoying our long holiday weekend. I'm delighted that Dave is getting to experience Ben at his best!

Yesterday we went downtown for Frosty Friday. Ben had the chance to mingle with Santa, the Grinch, Frosty the Snowman and Winnie the Pooh (not sure what he has to do with Christmas) and he wasn't interested in any of them. He was being a bit of a grouch so we decided to stop at one of his favorites, the Green Turtle for lunch. He ordered his usual and watched the keno game - he loves it because of all of the numbers. As we were leaving, the manager stopped over to tell us how cute Ben is and that he loved his vest. Ben was wearing jeans, white turtle neck and green sweater vest - he did look super cute!

Ben has been really excited about his upcoming birthday. Every time we receive a catalog in the mail, he flips through the pages declaring "I want this for my birthday". Today he was looking through a cookbook and telling me he wanted everything in there for his birthday. He's starting to understand that written words mean something. He'll point to a word and say, "say what this means to me". So much for breezing through books and skipping pages anymore.

Dave bought Ben a Thomas the Train the other day which he absolutely loves. Really, he does - he walks around saying "I love my Thomas" and it's been sleeping with him.

Ben continues to tell me this preschool joke several times a day. He laughs hysterically, which prompts me to laugh hysterically. I don't think I'll ever get sick of hearing that joke or the sweet little voice telling it!
