Fortunately, Ben has only been sick a handful of times in his three years. Yesterday was one of those times. The night before last, Ben started barking like a seal. He seemed to be feeling okay, but the bark sounded horrible. I thought for sure Chops was going to think we had another dog in the house....most likely a beagle. Anyway, I spent most of the night in Ben's room, listening to him "barking" and watching as he tried to sleep. I took him to the doctor yesterday and he has croup. The doctor visit was much of a challenge. Ben kept crying and saying, "I want to go back home". It was heartbreaking. I tried to assure him that we needed to make sure he was feeling better so Santa could come see him, but he wasn't buying into it. After the nurse checked his ears, he spent the rest of the appointment with his hands covering both ears. The good news is, the "barking" has gotten better and he seems to be feeling okay. It was really sad to see him miserable and I prefer seeing my happy, healthy little guy.
We were supposed to leave for Cleveland today, but the weather is not coorperating. We are getting blasted with a snowstorm. Washington DC is on track to get up to 24" of snow by tomorrow morning. So, looks like we'll be bundling up and staying put for the next 24 hours. Ben is going to be disappointed. He's been asking to "go to Grandmas" every day this week. This will make his arrival even more exciting - the wait and anticipation is half the fun!
